The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science with Security and Forensics programme aims to help students develop the knowledge and skills to safeguard digital systems. Curriculum

Structure

  • Programme is mainly delivered face-to-face, in block teaching basis where lectures are conducted by Cardiff University teaching faculty, complemented by tutorials or lab work supported by local practitioners or academics.
  • Average teacher-student ratio: 1:100
  • Weekly schedule: Between Monday and Friday at three or six hours per session. Saturday classes may occasionally be scheduled if required.
  • Class timing: 8.30am / 12.00pm / 3.30pm, held on Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø campus unless otherwise stated
  • Minimum class size to commence: 30 students
  • If the class fails to commence due to low take-up rate, applicants will be informed within one month before programme commencement with the refund of application fee.

Assessment & Attendance

  • There will be varied assessments which may include:

  • Attendance requirement:
    • Local students – 75%

Requirements to Graduate

  • To attain the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science with Security and Forensics, students must complete all the requirements of the programme in strict compliance with the schedules and timelines defined for the cohort in which the student is enrolled or deferred. 
  • The awarded degree and degree certificate, is the same as that awarded in the UK, i.e. Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science with Security and Forensics. The word "Top-up" will not be reflected.

  • Students are required to own a laptop equipped with at least Microsoft Windows 10 or Apple MacOS Catalina (10.15) and 8GB RAM (recommended).

Admission Criteria

Accepted Entry Qualifications

  • Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Diploma in Information Technology; or 
  • Relevant Information Technology diplomas from local polytechnics 

All other qualifications shall be considered on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to interview. 

English Language Requirements

  • Minimum C6 pass in English as First Language at GCE 'O' Level; or 
  • IELTS score of 6.5 overall with minimum of 5.5 in each subskill; or 
  • TOEFL score of 90 overall with a minimum of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading, and 20 for speaking; or 
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic): At least 69 overall with a minimum of 59 in all communicative skills; or 
  • Successful completion of Part 2 of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍø Pre-Sessional English course (PSEC); or 
  • Successful completion of a recognised approved Diploma, where the language of instruction was English; or 
  • Equivalent

A one-time fee payable by new full-time international students. This fee covers pre-arrival and arrival support, including activities to enhance the international student learning experience.
